Clowning around with Mark

Music blog GooseNinja.com had the pleasure of sitting down with Money Mark at the Sasquatch Festival to talk about his musical background and his latest release Brand New By Tomorrow. The interviewer was thoroughly charmed by Mark (as we always are), calling him "the coolest guy at Sasquatch." Read the interview here.

The blog also has a report on the Beastie Boys mainstage set at the Sasquatch Festival; however, I think the author must have been passed some bad weed during the set. The report incorrectly states that Beastie Boys performed "Shadrach" and a Bad Brains cover, which they did not. It would have been cool if they had though.

Money Mark is great. His superb playing really permeates The Mix Up. In fact, it seems to me that he's the central instrumental feature on just about every track. Mark is to the Beastie Boys like Billy Preston was to The Stones and Beatles. (Young'uns go look it up.) His solo album is prime also.

When my friends and I were standing outside the Croc Cafe, we talked about how influential Mark has been to the Beastie Boys evolution. Mark helped to define their distinctive sound.

I <3 Mark. He's the bestest guy in the world.

Beastie Boys doing a Bad Brains cover would be down right ORGASMIC!

I've said it before and I'll say it again, there are FOUR Beastie Boys.

Of course Klepto is right that MMM and Fredo are very important to the Beastie Boys but Money Mark has been a vital part of the whole apparatus since Cali days. He's an outstanding musician. -- D

If there are 4 Beasties, then #4 is MMM in my opinion. If you don't agree with me, I hate you.
