So how did everyone do with tickets?

Who needs tickets and who has extras? Please post in the comment section and help one another. Unfortunately, I cannot reply to all the emails that I received, as I am on my way out West.

While we fans were fretting and fussing about getting tickets to the show on Friday, the Beastie Boys were packing up at Oscilloscope Laboratories and heading out West too.

It has come to my attention that there are still a few people who aren't clued in on the secret. If you are subscribed to the Beastie Boys e-newsletter (which I know you all are), check your inbox for it. You'll find full disclosure there.

Many fans have written to us and offered to help other fans with this event, which is really heart-warming. We heard from someone who has an "in" with Ticketmaster who is going to try to score extra tickets for other fans. We also heard from singles who said they will offer up their second ticket to another fan if they are successful getting through tomorrow. We've even heard from people who aren't going to be in the Seattle area that want to send good wishes to those of us who are going.

You people are the best.

A damn radio station ruined the secret. If you had plans to be on your computer to obtain something special later today, please be aware that your competition has increased tremendously because a Seattle radio station had to blab. Also be aware that what you were going to do at 5 p.m. PDT today is no longer happening today. The date has changed to tomorrow (Wednesday) at 4 p.m. PDT.

Although I am not an elitist, I do believe that something special should be reserved for people who will appreciate it the most. In this case, I believe that to be the group of fans who devote some time to the band every day -- whether that be posting on the message board, writing about the band, reading about the band, drawing illustrations of them, making mixtapes of their songs, or just listening to the band's music every day. Those are the people I'm hoping get to enjoy a secret. Good luck tomorrow. May the force be with you.

In seven days, Beastie Boys fans who pilgrimage to George, Washington, will begin the most Beastie-filled weekend ever at the Sasquatch Music Festival. Beastie Boys will premiere the songs from their new instrumental album The Mix-Up at a special set on Saturday, as well as perform a hip-hop set on Sunday. In addition, Mix Master Mike will perform a set both days, and Money Mark will perform a set on Sunday. Beastie Boys fans couldn't ask for a more perfect offering!

To begin the weekend right, a group of fans are hosting a party for the Beastie Boys fan community at the festival campgrounds on Friday night (May 25). Join Pootytang, Paulb, Jennygirl, and Miramanee ('tis I) in a celebration of all that is Beastie.

A special feature of the party will be a Beastie Boys impersonation contest. Fans may rap, dress, act, vocally impersonate, or wear a mustache (really anything) like a Beastie Boy to win prizes. The contest will be videotaped for future amusement.

We are overwhelmed with calls and emails from friends in the Beastie Boys fan community about our promised review of the Beastie Boys' new album The Mix-Up. We will definitely have a review and more information about the new album to share soon.

All we'll say for now about The Mix-Up is the album is completely unique. All the clues you've heard and read are accurate. Northern soul, soundtrack, spy music...it's all there. It's NOT a repeat of The In Sound from Way Out. Do not expect to hear "Sabrosa"-style songs. It's the Beastie Boys like you've never heard them before.

Several friends have written to inform me of a web camera at Oscilloscope, the Beastie Boys New York studio. I'm on the opposite side of the world right now, so nothing is going on in the studio when I view the camera feed. I assume that many fans who are located outside America are missing out on the studio action. If you are able to view the Beastie Boys in real-time and can take a screen capture of the camera feed (PC: Alt + Print Screen; Macintosh: Apple + shift + control + 3), email the images to us at o.watch@gmail.com to post here and in our Flickr pool. Don't mess with sizing or cropping the images; Midzi and I will take care of that. Please indicate the date and time you captured the image and your name so we can credit your submission.

Since the Beastie Boys have made acapella versions of their songs available for download on their web site, the number of fan remixes posted to the Beastie Boys Message Board has skyrocketed. It can be a daunting task to check out even a small percent of the remixes. Mixtapeshow.net, a site that claims to offer the "best hip-hop/rap podcast on the internet," has done the dirty work of listening to and picking out the best of the remixes. The findings are available in a recent podcast, which can be downloaded here (click on the pic of the Beastie Boys).

The Beastie Boys Message Board has once again become the target of a hacker. Hijacking an administrator's account, a hacker who calls himself "Hacker Saudi" posted unimaginative FU and LOOOOOOL messages today. The hacker appears to be the same fool who attacked the board two weeks ago.

It's safe to assume that the board will be offline for a while as the administrators determine the security weaknesses that are allowing the hacker to infiltrate the board.

Jennygirl reports on the Last Call with Carson Daly taping:

Adam Yauch, he is a man of many whiskers and few words. That’s right, the guy has more beard than a billy goat!

He strolled confidently onto the Carson Daly set with his cool Bboy stride sporting, of course, a parka. Lacking his sidekicks (Mike and Horovitz) seems (imo) to put Mr. Yauch into a quieter disposition.

The other guests of the evening were Michael Rappaport, Jim Gaffigan and a band called The 88.

The loudest applause of the evening seemed to have been for our man Yauch. (Perhaps it was just me though. I screamed like an adolescent girl upon the mere mention of him.) There did seem to be many Beastie Boy supporters among us however.

Of course, Mr. Daly had to ask if Yauch’s uncle would be joining us. I believe Yauch stated Mr. Hornblower was in the back drinking out of a wine skin. His photo was presented for the cameras, giving credit where credit is due. Carson also showed a vinyl copy of Solid Gold Hits, announcing Licensed to Ill’s 20th anniversary this coming year.

Yauch explained the film (same stuff most of us are skooled on already): 50 cameras, editing craziness, etc. Carson asked him if anyone stuck a camera down their pants, shot any amateur porn and what not -- at which point, Michael Rappaport interjected that he saw the film at Sundance and dropped a spoiler for everyone. *cough* bathroom scene *cough* rrrr something like that.

My favorite part of the interview was Yauch’s set up for the clip. I’m sorry, I don’t recall verbatim, but it was something to the effect, “Ok, so this is when the guy is returning from Viet Nam...” Pfffffhahaha.

The clip was, well, rather AWESOME.

It appeared as though he tried to split the scene immediately after the interview. Then it appeared to me that Carson had to ask Yauch to kick it there for the remainder of the taping. Haha, where’d he have to run off to?

Luckily I was in the 3rd row and pretty darn close. It was surreal. I’m still trying to grasp the fact I saw a Beastie Boy last night. A bearded one at that! And because I was on the floor I had to walk over to the stage for the live music portion. In my heart of delusional hearts, I prayed a surprise performance was in store. Like, “We’re sorry ladies and gentlemen, the band, The 88, could not make it tonight, but we have the Beastie Boys here for you.” No such luck. I am also sad to report that I couldn’t even snap a cell phone pic to share with you all. There was this meathead standing near me that looked like he would’ve seriously thrown my ass out had I attempted it.

All in all, it was an AWESOME experience!

This episode is slated to air on NBC, St. Patrick’s Day... really late, so don’t get too drunk beforehand. Pace yourselves kiddies! You don’t want to pass out early in a puddle of green brew and forget to hit that record button.

Beastiemania.com has posted yet another outtake from Dan LeRoy's book Paul's Boutique. The outtake, "DeNiro in the mix," is material from an interview LeRoy conducted with Adam Yauch's former girlfriend, Lisa Ann Cabasa. In the outtake, Cabasa describes Yauch's obsession with film, music, and cooking.

Beastiemania.com has published another outtake from Dan LeRoy's forthcoming book Paul's Boutique. The newly posted outtake details Chuck D's memories of the album's release and his support of the Beastie Boys after they left Def Jam.

Beastiemania.com, the exhaustively comprehensive Beastie Boys' fan site, is accepting questions for a Q&A it is conducting with Dan LeRoy, the author of the forthcoming book Paul's Boutique. LeRoy's book, to be published by Continuum, reveals the untold story of the album many fans and critics consider to be the Beastie Boys' masterpiece. The book contains new interviews with many of the people involved in the creation of the album -- including Mike D, the Dust Brothers, and producer Matt Dike -- as well as previously unpublished photos by Ricky Powell.
