Crazy-crazy: Lyrics to 'Make Some Noise'

I listened to the Beastie Boys' new song "Make Some Noise" a few times, and the following is what I heard lyric-wise. Please give me your feedback and corrections. I would like to post the lyrics to Beastiemania.com asap.

Make Some Noise

Yeah, get up
Yeah
Uh

Yes, here we go again
Give you more, nothing lesser
Back on the mic, it's the anti-depressor
Adrock — no pressure — yes, we need this
The best is yet to come and, yes, believe this

Let go my Eggo while I flex my ego
Sip on Prosecco, dressed up tuxedo
Sipping coffee, playing keno in the casino
Want a lucky number, ask Mike Dino

I burn the competition like a flame thrower
My rhymes age like wine as I get older
I'm getting bolder, competition is wanin'
I got the ball and I see the lane and

We got a party on the left, a party on the right
We gotta party for the motherfuckin' right to fight
Make some noise if you're with me
You gotta make some noise if you're with me
Crazy, crazy, crazy

Our resurrection by popular election
Get paid every year like tax collection
Hear my perfection, a rotary connection
Taking emcees down by lethal rap injection

I'm like an ornithologist when I get miffed
You must have drank a fizzy-lifting drink and you got lifted
And sifted, I'm just riffin'
When I catch emcees it's time for wing-clippin'

I fly like a hawk, or better yet a seagull
I sniff suckers out like a beagle
My ego is off and runnin' and gone
'Cause I'm about the best and if you fess well, that's wrong

We got a —
We got a party on the left, a party on the right
We gotta party for the motherfuckin' right to fight
Make some noise if you're with me
You gotta make some noise if you're with me
Crazy, crazy, crazy

The break is crazy
Crazy-crazy

Pass me the scalpel, I'll make an incision
I'll cut off the part of your brain that does the bitchin'
Put it in formaldehyde and put it on the shelf
You can show it to your friends and say, "That's my old self"

Can't do me nothing, can't tell me nadda
Don't bug me now because I'm doin' the lambada (bada!)
The forbidden dance (wha!)
Here's my chance
To make romance in my b-boys stance

Parlay my romancing into financing
Opened up a restaurant with Ted Danson
The roaches check in but they never check out
I set the record straight, no doubt

We got a
We got a party on the left, a party on the right
We gotta party for the motherfuckin' right to fight
Make some noise if you're with me
You gotta make some noise if you're with me

I tried to decipher the lyrics myself but I had a hard time because the vocals are so distorted.

I agree the vocal distortion is crazy on the single. It's easier to make out the lyrics if you listen to the Passion Pit remix.

Thanks for posting the lyrics. :) I like the music but I don't understand what the song is about. Can you explain it? I'm sorry to be so stupid about it.

@Emily You shouldn't feel stupid. The lyrics don't make a heck of a lot of sense to me either. The lyrics contain classic B Boys boasts and cultural references. I imagine the lyrics recount the story in Yauch's FFYR Revisited film.

Big letdown. Not the Beasties best.

Thanks Hot Sauce! I guess they will make sense to me when I see the filmeo.

Lyrics look good to me.

I hear Mike say 'conference' at the beginning of the part about tax collection but I'm probably wrong. What is going on in Yauch's part about the ornithologist & fizzy drinks? I think the man was sniffing glue when he wrote that rhyme!

Small corrections:
"Yes, here we go again
Give you more, nothing LESSER <---
Back on the mic, it's the anti-depressor"

and

"Hear my perfection, rotary connection
Taking emcees down like lethal rap INJECTION"

Ad-Rock says "less" with an emphasis at the end - not "lesser". Yauch does the same thing with "lane".

Hmm.. on 'lane' yes, but it sounds much more like Ad-Rock's making a play on words. He's not inflecting like 'less-uh' or 'lessa'. It's a more distinct 'lessER'. I could be wrong, really, but it wouldn't be the first time the group chose to sacrifice grammar for rhyme. Sounds good either way.

Either way, he's taking liberty with language.

I couldn't tell what they were singing in the chorus. Its so muffled. I didn't realize it was censored until I read the lyrics. LOL

- "nothing LESSER" definitely (to rhyme w/ depressor)
- gotta be "leggo my eggo"...no?
- could be "I got the ball and I see the lane IN"
- "taking emcees down by lethal rap injection" definitely
- pretty particular, but i think "sniffs" is singular (sniff)
- sounds like MCA says "this break is crazy...this is crazy" ???
- "Parlay romancing," not "Parlez"

"I got the ball and I see the lane and.."

throwing an 'an' or 'and' at the end of a line to add a syllable in order to complete the rhyme, and also segue into the next verse or line, is a pretty common tactic.

I wish I knew what the song was about too. This song has me worried about the rest of the album.

For the count..I think Adrock says lesser.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. I revised the lyrics for the comments that I agree with. For the rest, I'll need more votes before I make changes.

I agree with Jeff re: "leggo my eggo" - gotta be a pop culture reference! "Let go my echo" just doesn't make as much sense...

I don't hear leggo my eggo. Is that the only thing still under review?
