Stay in and listen: audio from the Get Out and Vote tour

Beastie Boys live in Milwaukee, November 2, 2008

The purpose of the Get Out and Vote tour was to remind all Americans that they have the ability to affect change through voting. Huge kudos to the Beastie Boys and the artists who joined them on the tour for urging people to vote in the presidential election. A lot of Americans turned their fresh finger into a voting booth finger on November 4 and, because of it, hope exists in America again.

If you didn't get a chance to attend any of the seven shows of the Get Out and Vote tour, don't worry. We're looking out for you. Several kind souls recorded some of the shows and are sharing lossless audio. We converted their files to mp3s for easy download and listening. So far, the following shows have surfaced:

Jack Black's version of "We Got The" is hilarious and awesome.

Torrents seem like a lot of work. I can't be bothered to put effort into getting a recording. Thanks for saving me all the work. The audio quality of both shows is good.

Beasties had an influence in this election. Look at the states they played Rock the Vote shows which ended up going for Obama. RIGHT ON! Mike D for Sec. of State!

Torrents aren't much work at all. You click a link and decide where you want it to save. Just install utorrent and go for it.

I like the St. Paul recording. Mike seemed to really have his goof on.

Dear Alex and Marilyn...

Check out when Mike begins "Grasshopper Unit" in St. Paul (at the end of "No Sleep Til Brooklyn"). It seems like Mike would have continued with the song if Yauch and Horovitz had played along. Unfortunately, Yauch puts an end to it with "How's the rest of that rhyme go?"

As a Midwestern, I find the band's pronunciation of "Minneapolis" hilarious.
