The French music industry has been abuzz with talk that Beastie Boys have invited French artist Philippe Zdar (of house music duo Cassius) to help them mix Hot Sauce Committee. Zdar has successfully mixed albums and songs for Phoenix, Cut Copy, and Chromeo, among other artists.
A source close to the band has shared that Mike Diamond confirmed Zdar will be mixing HSC. It appears that Zdar will reign over the mix of the entire album, not just a few songs or remixes.

YEESSS!!! Talk about HSC again! I don't know who Zdar is but I hope he works fast.
Zdar is an odd choice for a rap group. The Phoenix album is pure bubblegum. I don't need a Beastie Boys album I can dance to.
When will Beastie Boys confirm this news? Thanks.
@Jason Beastie Boys don't really confirm news. Mike D's confirming it through a source is as good as it gets with Beastie Boys.
HSCP1 sounds like another form of swine flu.
It is exciting news! I agree it is an unusal collaboration but I look forward to listening to the results.
Coincidentally HSCP1 is the name of Mike D's yacht.
I'm with Emily. I don't know anything about the mixer but I'm happy to hear Beastie Boys are Beastie Boying again!
And - on a side note - according Tamra Davis' Cooking Show, "Mike is back mixing his record, which means Adam Y is feeling better. Yeah!"
So it seems the record is on it's way - again :)
To Fittonia - I dance to ALL the Beastie Boys album. So does Adrock.
Adrock's dancing makes me :D
I'll reserve judgment until I hear the album, but I shudder at the thought of a pop album from the Beastie Boys.
HSCP1 is where I bank.
I am open to the idea of Beasties working with Zdar. No disrespect but I haven't been impressed with the songs I've heard from HSCP1 so far. Maybe Zdar can breathe some life into the album.
The fact Beastie Boys are working on music again is great news. It’s a better confirmation Yauch is healthy than any formal announcement or comment by an insider. I’m hoping for an album and tour in late spring 2011.
HSCP1 is my license plate number
good news!
A house music producer...really?
I guess we'll see what happens when it's released. I am sure the guys won't put the album out if they don't think the mix is good. Also who has this guy worked with because I don't know him?
Zdar seems to be involved with more music projects, not limited to house music. And did the BB disappointed us so far with their choices about producers and mixers? No! Think about Dust bros, or Mario C. I'm looking forward to the release ...
Awesome! Beastie Boys are back in the studio! I can't wait to hear some new tunes.
Y'know, I thought this album was in the can already. They were all set to release it before the news of Yauch's health, yet here they are re-mixing it. Just release the shit already! I liked "Lee Majors" as I heard it the first time, I don't need it turned into "Wolfgang Amadeus Lee Majors". Sheesh.
The album was mixed & ready for release when mca found out about his cancer.. they reinventing their wheel?
You have to remember that they recorded the album two years ago. It might be sounding stale to them. It's also possible that Zdar is not working on HSCP1 at all, but on HSCP2 instead. The band may be planning to surprise fans with a double album. Mike spoke of working on HSCP2 a few months after Yauch underwent treatment. HSCP2 might be a semi-finished package that needs a mixer's final touch.
HSCP1 is C-3PO's boyfriend and R2-D2's ex.
I saw Cassius when they played support to the Boys at Paris Zenith a couple of years back.
Definetly a bit of a weird sound, but ion a good way :)
Zdar is not only a dance producer, He began his career with french rap artists such as MC Solaar (who worked with Guru on Jazzmattaz vol.1)
