Mike D and Adrock make music for film

Mike Diamond and Adam Horovitz have contributed original music to the soundtrack of the documentary Jean-Michel Basquiat: The Radiant Child. The film by Tamra Davis, Mike Diamond's wife, offers a portrait of the artist Jean-Michel Basquiat, who died at age 27 from a heroin overdose. (Read a bio on Basquiat HERE.) The film had its premiere at this year's Sundance Film Festival and will have its theatrical release later this year.

Haha! I love how Horovitz gets credit before Mike when Mike is married to the director! I hope I can see Tammy D's film.

There's some really great jazz in the trailer. For some time now I wanted to get my hands on "Profit 1" by J.-M. Basquiat. A professional re-drawing may do it too, I guess. ;-) $$

The tune is 'Salt Peanuts' by Dizzy Gillespie&Kenneth Clarke. It's jumping like mad, as Sid Torin would say. The question is which recording is it? I have one with DG and Charlie Parker in Town Hall, NYC, from 1945, and one with DG in the MoMA, NYC, from 1961. It's neither one of them.

"(...) Saopeanuts, saopeanuts (the name of the[m?] song) / saopeanuts, saopeanuts (...)".

Arthouse Films, via e-mail: "I’m not sure if the soundtrack will be for sale, actually."

At least the fine tune is in the trailer, as digital audio. ;-)
